Running Water Events exists to partner with people here to make a difference everywhere. Here in the United States, we have access to water everywhere. In our homes, offices, and public spaces. However, many people across the world do not have access to clean drinking water. In order for them to have drinking water, they have to travel several miles on foot every day to bring water back to their village.

That’s where Running Water Events comes into the picture. We connect with missionaries around the world, raise money, and provide funding to build a water well that will provide clean drinking water for people in their own village. That way they do not have to risk their life for water, but have access to it in their own village. The mission doesn’t stop there. Each well that is dug provides an opportunity for the Gospel of Jesus to be preached in that village and plants a church in that village.

Mat and Victoria Murphy had a vision to help build water wells in villages across the world and said yes to accomplishing the great task. It started with a yard sale on May 1, 2019 at Garvinwood General Baptist Church where Mat was pastoring at the time. Mat, Victoria, and their dog, Water, traveled to churches, youth camps, farmers markets, and anywhere they could to raise money by selling t-shirts and raise awareness for the great need of clean drinking water across the globe. Each shirt that was sold represented a person in a village that would have access to clean drinking water.

In August of 2025, The Murphy family moved to the Philippines to serve in various roles at the General Baptist Bible College. That same month, he handed the ministry over to a passionate teenager named Gavin Vincent, who is a member of Shady Grove General Baptist Church. Since then, Gavin Vincent, along with his family, and Water the Dog have become the leaders of the ministry.

When you give to Running Water Events, either through one-time or recurring donations, or through purchasing fundraising merchandise, ALL proceeds are used to build water wells around the globe.
